Come 16th of October, 2021; you’ll get a chance to show off your athletic skills and participate in Orlando’s famous International Dragon Boat Festival. This festival gives all the paddlers out there an opportunity of a lifetime where they get to race through Bill Fredrick Park.

This event is open to everyone, and you can sign up for the contest. A total of 70 teams participate in the race, all of which come from different states. If you’re not a paddler, you can enjoy the live entertainment and trade fair, along with some delicious food trucks present at the event. The main attraction of the event is the race, as paddlers get to compete on the MDLB circuit. Also, they’ll get a relaxing experience at the Athletes’ Village.

Event Racing Details

To participate in the races, you must have a team, and your team captain can register you for any of the 11 MLDB races. The registration process is strictly only for crew captains. So once they are registered, the captain can send the invite to other crew members. Once the members receive an invitation, they can then access the crew management page.

If you don’t have a team, you can still participate in the races by opting for the programs designed for solo paddlers and small groups. You can opt for the “Earth Dragons” program for racers who just want to participate. You also get a 1-hour practice session with this option.

The “Experience Dragon Boat Racing” program is for those who want to be a part of a start-to-finish team. The program comes with a 5-week practice session.

Event Rules and Regulations

You must abide by a few rules and regulations if you’re taking part in the races. They are as follows:

  • No dogs allowed
  • You cannot set up a personal tend due to city By-law Regulations
  • No alcoholic beverages are allowed. You can always head for a cold beer at the Beer Garden
  • No BBQ Grills or cooking equipment allowed on site
  • All teams must clean up their trash and throw it in the wastebaskets that will be installed around the Athlete’s village

Entertainment Options at the Dragon Boat Festival

You will come across plenty of entrainment besides the races at the Dragon Boat Festival. The Asian Cultural EXPO will display various performances, crafts, and exhibitions.

You don’t have to worry about kids getting bored at the event, either. The kids’ play area at the event is designed for children to enjoy exciting activities like a giant Jenga, inflatable slides, a Scooby-Doo bounce House, soccer, Mickey Mouse Bounce House, corn hole toss, and lots more.
